WHAT IS A HERDSHARE?!?
A herdshare is co-ownership in a privately owned herd of dairy livestock. Dairy regulations in the state of California, raw milk produced on a small scale cannot be sold to the public, but can be accessed through a herdshare.
By law, owners may enjoy the milk from livestock they own. The great thing about a herdshare is that not everyone has to have their own cow, nor the land, time, or skills to take care of it. We can work together, and in this case, our herdshare members contract with us to manage the herd on their behalf. That means, we do all the milking, feeding, and cleaning up. You enjoy a share of the best milk on earth
HOW IT WORKS?
Milk is picked up on a weekly basis, either from the farm or from a pickup location. Deliveries must pick up from the location during the specified times.
Our milk is cooled and then filled in half-gallon glass jars. You are responsible for bringing back your glass jars each week.

Once you purchase your share in the herd. This is a one-time purchase of $10 and gives access to milk from the cows you “own.” Each 1/2 gallon is an additional $10 due at each pick up. Payment is collected at pick ups

What Makes The K Family Farm Milk Spacial?
-Our milk is ALWAYS fresh. Our milk is usually always sold the day it comes out of the udder and is never more than a few days old.

-It’s high quality Jersey milk. The K Family Farm milk comes from Jersey cows. Jerseys are world renowned for the quality of its milk, which contains higher concentrations of proteins, solids, butterfat, and beta-caroteen than milk from other breeds.

-It’s unprocessed. Our milk goes from the cow, to the bottle, to you. We bottle and market the milk ourselves, so we have control over every step of the process.

-It’s ethically produced. We treat our cows with love, kindness and respect.
-We feed them nothing but high quality hay, pasture, a custom formulated grain that is free from soy, GMO’s, pesticides and herbicides. We never use hormones or other substances to artificially increase milk production.

-We test our milk frequently for Somatic Cell Count, as well, which can help us determine if a cow’s immune system is “on alert,” potentially fighting an infection. We always take a holistic approach to any illness.
